Berlin (AP) - The German alto star André Greipel and the French cycling team Arkea Samsic have agreed to a contract resolution at the end of the year. This was announced by the 37-year-old from Hürth as well as the team.

The eleven-time tour stage winner had only switched to the Professional Continental Team from Brittany at the beginning of the year and initially had a contract there until 2020.

"I would have loved to add more to the season's statistics, but I was not optimally prepared for my season highlights. In the first half of the season, I had several months to fight with a bacterial disease and 100% cured I was only two weeks before the Tour de France, "said Greipel on his homepage. Previously, the native Rostocker had also expressed critical of his team.

The Sprinter announced to end his season after his participation in the Sparkassen Münsterland Giro. The continuation of his career left Greipel open: "In the week from 4 to 10 November I will inform you about the 2020 season." Previously, he wanted to go on holiday and will not be available for media inquiries.
