In a business building on the Zevenheuvelenweg in Tilburg, a very large fire broke out in the night from Thursday to Friday around 3 a.m. The fire quickly spread to three adjacent buildings. The fire warning signal was given around 9 am, according to a spokesperson for the Central and West Brabant Security Region.
According to the spokesperson, it was a "very, very large fire with meters high flames". The re-firing will take a few hours.
The fire brigade was present with eighty people to extinguish the fire and tried to prevent the fire from spreading further. The emergency services also received support from the Air Force.
The fire started in a bakery. An oil company, which is next door, was also on fire. As far as is known, no casualties have occurred. "The advantage if a fire breaks out in the middle of the night is that there are no people inside," the spokesperson said.

A lot of smoke nuisance, but no hazardous substances measured
Due to the plastic items in the three buildings, there was a lot of smoke in the area. The fire department advised local residents to keep windows and doors closed. At 4.30 a NL-Alert was sent to residents in the region.
The fire department has taken measurements. No hazardous substances were measured in the air. "But smoke is always bad, so stay out of smoke, is the advice."
Roads have been closed to provide emergency workers with the space they need. The fire brigade also calls on people not to drive over the hoses.
