Wolfsburg / Stuttgart (AP) - Volkswagen and Porsche have to call back just 227,000 cars because of a problem with airbags and seatbelt tensioners.
For the vehicles, the software of the airbag control unit requires, according to information from the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) an update. The error leads to a «limited function of the airbags and the belt tensioner».
There have already been three cases at Volkswagen in which they triggered, without causing an accident. The reverse case is also possible that airbag and belt tensioners are not triggered in an accident.
Affected are 203,400 copies of the VW models Tiguan, Sharan and CC from the year of construction 2015 as well as 23,550 Porsche 911, Boxter, Cayman and Panamera from the years 2015 and 2016.
In Germany, around 51,200 Volkswagen models and just under 3900 Porsche models are called into the workshops. According to the KBA, the three incidents relate to Volkswagen models. At Porsche so far no cases are known, said a spokesman. Previously, the magazine "Motor Vehicle Company" reported about it.
