Luxembourg (dpa) - The European Court of Justice (ECJ) is today (9.30 clock) in Luxembourg a landmark judgment for car owners.
The dispute between the General Association of Auto Parts Trade (GVA) and the Korean manufacturer Kia is fundamentally about the question of whether free traders are disadvantaged in the spare parts business (Case C-527/18).
The association criticizes the fact that electronic databases are insufficiently provided - to the detriment of customers who paid too high prices for spare parts and repairs.
According to GVA, the spare parts market in Germany has a volume of more than 26 billion euros. The repair shops have a share of nearly 40 percent.
