London (AP) - Prince Harry (35) has thanked the former rugby star Gareth Thomas (45) for the open handling of his HIV infection.
"Gareth, you are a legend! By telling you that you are HIV-positive, you are saving lives and destroying stigmata. Because you show you can be strong and resilient while living with HIV, "Harry wrote on Instagram on Sunday.
Thomas, who became the first rugby pro to commit himself to homosexuality in 2009 and ended his career two years later, reported on Saturday in a video on Twitter about his condition. It would make him "extremely vulnerable," but not "weak." He had to tell about it because others would have done otherwise. "But I choose to fight, inform, and end the stigma of the matter," the Welshman explained.
