Two Dutch YouTubers were arrested on Tuesday for entering the area around the heavily protected area 51 in the US state of Nevada. According to the local police, the pair deliberately ignored warning signs and subsequently drove nearly 5 kilometers into the area.
According to Nye County police, it's Ties Granzier and Govert Sweep. The YouTubers were said to have "wanted to explore" the area. In the end Granzier would have wanted to upload a video about the tour.
Agents searched the Dutch car and found some cameras, a drone and recordings that had already been made of the terrain. The duo had to go to the desk and have been stuck in a custody house near Las Vegas ever since.
Granzier, whose YouTube channel has 735,000 subscribers, already hinted on his Instagram page on Tuesday that he wanted to do a stunt in the area. "Now by making crazy shots of crazy adventures and Area 51," 21-year-old Limburger wrote with a photo taken in the Grand Canyon.
For months there has been a fuss about the possible storming of Area 51
In the United States there has been much to do in recent months around the area, which is part of the Nevada National Security Site nuclear weapons testing area.
An event would have been created on Facebook to storm Area 51 en masse on 20 September, because rumors have been circulating for decades that 'alien space ships' and 'aliens' have been preserved. The initiator has since pulled the plug, because he fears a "humanitarian disaster".
