Eleventh Generation: Apple introduces new iPhones with better cameras

Cupertino (dpa) - Apple relies heavily on better cameras in its new iPhone generation to boost the recent decline in sales of its flagship product.
The iPhone 11, which replaces the entry-level model of the current iPhone XR, gets, among other things, a night mode, which should provide good pictures in dark light conditions. The additional ultra-wide-angle lens should not only be used to get more in the picture, but also to improve the photos.
The successor of the current top model iPhone XS got the name iPhone 11 Pro. The device introduced on Tuesday now has three cameras - standard focal length, telephoto lens and ultra-wide angle.
For image editing Apple once again improved the processor of the devices with the A13 chip from its own development. Now slow-motion selfies with the front camera of the iPhones should be possible, among other things.
With the new generation of the computer clock Apple Watch, the screen stays on for the first time all the time. So far, it used to be black to save power and did not start until the motion sensor detected that the arm was raised. For the function Apple uses a new display with the "Series 5" of the clock, which uses less power. The battery should last for 18 hours. The clock also gets a compass. The emergency call function now works in all countries. The aluminum cases are now made of recycled aluminum.
For the first time there are titanium cases and again ceramic ones. Apple also retains the Series 3 from 2017 and sells it now for $ 199 - this is the lowest price ever for an Apple Watch.
