A train was damaged on Monday afternoon in a collision with an excavator between the Breda and Breda Prinsenbeek stations. No injuries were caused.

The Central and West Brabant safety region has announced that the train has been damaged along its entire length. The fire brigade arrived on site for support and the train was evacuated after the collision.

Train traffic on the route in question was disrupted by the collision. There are no trains between Lage Zwaluwe and Breda and no trains on the high-speed line between Rotterdam Central and Breda.

The disruption is expected to last until around 3 p.m.
