Cupertino (AP) - Apple is expected to introduce on Tuesday, the new generation of iPhone, which should compete according to media reports, inter alia, with a new camera system against rivals from the Android camp.
Externally, you will see the difference according to an additional ultra-wide-angle lens. The improved camera system should also make new functions possible, wrote the financial service Bloomberg. So all three cameras - medium focal length, telephoto lens and ultra-wide angle - should be able to be triggered simultaneously to combine better photos.
It should also improve the quality of the photos taken in low light - here Google had set new standards last fall with its Pixel 3. In the meantime, Samsung and Huawei, among others, followed suit with their flagship models. The quality of iPhone videos should be further improved and move closer to the professional cameras, it said.
The new models are said to carry the name iPhone 11, the successor of today's top models XS and XS Max would get the addition of "Pro", which Apple also uses in his Mac computers and iPads. At the same time, the new devices should largely retain the design of the current iPhones.
Inside, there will be the next more powerful generation of Apple's processors, Bloomberg wrote. The face recognition sensor FaceID should be improved to allow the devices to be unlocked from a wider angle than now, for example when the iPhone is on the table.
In addition, it will be possible in the future to charge the AirPods earphones in their case wirelessly on the back of the new iPhones, it said, citing informed persons. Samsung's competitor had introduced such a feature for its earphones in the spring with the Galaxy S10 - along with an ultra-wide-angle lens.
Furthermore, Apple wants to spend the cheaper version of its iPad tablets a larger screen and refresh the computer clock Apple Watch. Among other things, there could be new housing variants made of titanium and ceramic.
The Apple Watch has become a bestseller while iPhone sales are declining. The phone is still the most important Apple product, but its share of the Group's business fell from about once two-thirds to about 50 percent. Among other things, Apple relies on subscription services to become more independent of the iPhone. At the Apple headquarters in Cupertino on Tuesday (starting at 7:00 pm CEST) there could also be details about the video streaming service Apple TV +, for which the group has committed Hollywood stars like Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon.
In terms of hardware, Apple has other equipment in the pipeline: According to next year, the next generation of AirPods and a cheaper model of the networked loudspeaker HomePod are in the works. The last speculation was about a new version of the streaming box Apple TV.
