The Dorian People Search Bahamas website, where people can provide names of missing loved ones, contains the names of nearly seven thousand people, NBC News writes . The death toll in the aftermath of Hurricane Dorian has increased further to 43, but according to spokespersons for the Bahamian government, hundreds to thousands of people are still missing.
An extremely poor scenario is taken into account, with a "shockingly high" number of bodies to be found in the coming period. "People need to prepare for unimaginably bad news about the death toll," said Health Minister Sands.
Seventy thousand people need immediate help on the Abaco Islands and Grand Bahama. Dorian is said to have caused more than 6 billion euros in material damage to the island group.
The UN has released 5.4 million dollars to help the Bahamas. 720,000 ready-made meals are also sent to the disaster area.
Hardest storm ever hit the Caribbean island group
Dorian was the worst storm the Caribbean island group has ever experienced. The hurricane of the fifth category almost came to a halt above the northern islands of Abaco and Grand Bahama.
With gusts of wind up to 300 kilometers per hour, the hurricane held an incredible home for almost 48 hours and the islands were destroyed. Dorian has since weakened from the fifth to the first category and is heading for the Northeastern United States at wind speeds of 150 kilometers per hour.

Dorian toned down to storm of the first category
Weather experts say that Dorian could have done much more damage in the southeastern states of the US. For the time being, four people have died and more than 250,000 households were without power.
Most damage would have been done on the Outer Banks island group just off the North Carolina coast; Dorian's eye lingered over the islands for some time.
At least eight hundred residents are said to have been imprisoned in their own homes due to serious flooding. "They urgently need help," said Governor Cooper.
