Washington (dpa) - After a possible agreement with the radical Islamic Taliban, US President Donald Trump will initially leave 8600 American soldiers in Afghanistan. "We'll go down to 8600 and then decide how to proceed from there," Trump said in an interview with Fox News Radio. "We will continue to have troops there," he said, but emphasized, "We will significantly reduce our presence." Trump's long-standing goal is to reduce the number of US troops in Afghanistan.
