Munich (dpa) - Prime Minister Markus Söder has the FC Bayern Munich honored in the award for winning the championship and the DFB Cup as the "international figurehead" of the Free State.
At the reception in the courtyard garden of the Bavarian State Chancellery, club president Uli Hoeneß thanked the CSU politician for these boasting words. "I find it an incredible honor that the Bavarian Prime Minister says: If Bayern are doing well, then Bayern are doing well," said Hoeneß. Everyone could be proud of that.
Hoeneß did not comment on his own future in the official section. It is expected that the 67-year-old will inform the Supervisory Board on Thursday about his future plan. The "Bild" had announced five weeks ago that Hoeneß no longer run for president at the end of November and the presidency of the board prematurely. Both offices will take over the former Adidas boss Herbert Hainer. On Wednesday Hainer stayed in the background.
Hoeness was the first of the record champions delegation in the Golden Book. The honors Hoeneß saw as "a harbinger for the season I see coming," said the 67-year-old. "I think we were rarely so wide and well prepared for the new season." Söder got a club jersey from Hoeness with the number twelve presented - so many double from championship and trophy has won Bayern.
