Istanbul (dpa) - The governorship of the Turkish metropolis of Istanbul has deported since mid-July almost 21 000 migrants from the city. A statement stated that 16,423 "illegal migrants" had been taken to detention centers in the city for "unregulated migration". They should return to their home countries. In addition, 4500 Syrians, who were previously unregistered, were housed in refugee camps outside the city. Syrian refugees are under temporary protection in Turkey.
