Baghdad (AFP) German Defense Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer (CDU) has spoken out in favor of a continuation and a more civil-military orientation of the Bundeswehr's anti-IS mandate. It is difficult for the "Iraqi side to explain that it is not self-evident that the mission will be continued," Kramp-Karrenbauer said in Baghdad on Tuesday in view of the domestic debate on a mandate extension. The anti-IS coalition stands "now at a point where it will decide", whether the victory over the IS "sustainable".
