Tokyo (AP) - A strong typhoon has paralyzed traffic in western Japan and injured several people. Several thousand residents were forced to escape the risk of landslides and floods as a result of massive rains, local media reported. Hundreds of flights were canceled, and rail traffic also had to be severely curtailed due to the storm squalls - and this at a time when millions of Japanese are returning from their holidays on the occasion of the Obon Buddhist ancestral festival. At least five people were injured in falls, it said.
