Traffic: Scheuer wants tougher penalties for traffic offenders

TIME ONLINE | News, backgrounds and debates

Berlin (AP) - Federal Transport Minister Andreas Scheuer plans tougher penalties for traffic offenders. Drivers who do not form a rescue lane should in future pay a fine of up to 320 euros, and there is a threat of a month's driving ban. Who illegally parked in second row or on footpaths and cycle paths, should pay instead of 15 € in the future, up to 100 €. Electric scooters are allowed to drive on bus lanes. Furthermore Scheuer wants to enable the release of bus lanes for cars or motorcycles with sidecars, which are occupied by at least 3 people.
