Berlin (AP) - The tragic death of his former Belgian team-mate Bjorg Lambrecht has made Radstar André Greipel thoughtful.
"Certainly one thinks differently about the sport. You become aware of how fragile the human being is and how dangerous the sport is. You can not forget it and maybe go cycling differently. I just hope that does not happen that often. That's anything but beautiful, "said Greipel in a media round.
The 22-year-old Lambrecht had died in early August at the Tour of Poland after a fall against a concrete structure. Greipel had driven with the talent until the end of 2018 in a team at the funeral ceremony, the veteran had worn the coffin. "If you lose an old, young team-mate with Bjorg, that's anything but nice," said the 37-year-old, adding: "But you should not forget how beautiful cycling can be."
