Government: US Government mitigates law on endangered species
TIME ONLINE | News, backgrounds and debates
Washington (dpa) - The administration of US President Donald Trump has made controversial changes to an important law to protect endangered species. According to this, endangered animal and plant species should no longer receive the same protection directly as threatened species. In addition, the government deleted phrases from the law, according to which economic aspects should not play a role in classifying a species as threatening. According to critics, this paves the way for economic interests to influence the process.
