Dozens of cabins of a cable car at a Canadian tourist attraction crashed after someone cut the cable. The police and operators report this. The cable car was not in use at the moment. Nobody was injured.
Thirty cabins came down when the 2-kilometer cable from the Squamish Sea to Sky Gondola in Squamish in British Columbia failed.
"We believe that the cable has been cut and that this is a deliberate act of vandalism," a Royal Canadian Mounted Police inspector told reporters.
The cable car is a major tourist attraction and can carry 240 people at the same time. From the cabins people have a beautiful view of the fjords on the Pacific coast of Canada.
The attraction will be closed indefinitely.
