Floods caused by monsoon rains have already killed 147 people in southern and western India. Local authorities report this.
The southern state of Kerala, a popular tourist resort known for its pristine beaches, hill resorts and inland waterways, is one of the hardest hit areas. The death toll is there at 67.
At least 165,000 people have been taken care of in more than 1300 relief camps, spread across fourteen districts in the state, a senior police officer said.
"The bad weather and the damaged infrastructure influence the rescue work," he added.
Myanmar is also struggling with the consequences of the monsoon. On Sunday, at least 52 people died as a result of floods and landslides.
