Fact check: After attack from Frankfurt: Wrong victims photo on the Internet

Frankfurt / Main (AP) - A man was on Monday at Frankfurt Central Station an eight-year-old and his mother in front of a colliding ICE encountered. The woman was able to save herself, the boy died. In social media, a photo was now spread, which is supposed to show the killed boy.

EVALUATION: The photo does not show the victim of Frankfurt Central Station. The recording has been circulating for years on the Internet.

FACTS: The photo can be found in various versions on the Internet since 2014 at the latest. Especially often, the pictured child appears as a hair model on hairdressing and fashion websites.

The author (s) of the post with the wrong photo not only present the depicted boy as the victim of Frankfurt, the boy is also given the alleged name Oscar. Attorney Nadja Niesen stated on a dpa request that, for reasons of privacy, names of defendants, victims and witnesses were "neither named nor confirmed or denied".

So far there is no serious evidence that the boy was actually Oskar. The news portal "" reported, citing investigators, that the victim has a different name.

The act of violence caused horror throughout Germany. The suspect from Eritrea came under suspicion of murder in pre-trial detention.
