The German police is holding a big campaign against organized crime in the Ruhr area on Saturday night. Among other things, there are raids on shisha lounges, cafés, tea houses and betting shops in Dortmund, Essen and Duisburg.
Approximately 1,300 agents have been deployed who are supported by customs and the tax authorities. According to the German Federal Ministry of the Interior of the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia, this is the grand operation against organized crime in the history of the region.
The action is aimed at money laundering, black work and tax evasion, mainly exercised by criminal families, gangs and Mafia fans. The operation will last all night, according to the ministry.
