Kathy Griffin is cancer free.

After an operation to remove half of her lung, the American actress is now on her way back, the actress and comedienne tells the talk show

Jimmy Kimmel Live

“I am cancer free,” said Griffin.

"I don't know how it was possible, but I had a tumor. I've never smoked, but it's been there for ten years."

The tumor was removed from her left lung in August.

The doctors were already optimistic then, because the cancer was only found there.

On the couch with Jimmy Kimmel, the actress said that her vocal cords were a bit affected by the surgery.

Her voice therefore sounds a bit higher than before.

"It will heal and until then I'm just enjoying it a little. It's a good two octaves higher. I think my voice is higher than Mariah Carey's," Griffin joked, 61-year-old.
