Actor Alec Baldwin took to Twitter on Friday for the first time to respond to Thursday's accident, in which he shot

"My shock and sadness at the tragic accident that killed Halyna Hutchins - a wife, mother and deeply admired colleague - is beyond words," Baldwin wrote in a tweet.

"I am fully cooperating with the police investigation to find out how this tragedy could have happened. I am in touch with her husband and offer my support to him and his family. My heart is broken and with him, their son and everyone who killed Halyna. knew and loved."

Hutchins was taken to hospital by helicopter.

She died there a few hours later from her injuries.

48-year-old director Joel Souza was also taken to hospital with gunshot wounds.

According to actress Frances Fischer, who also has a role in

, he has since left the hospital.

A police spokesperson told

The Hollywood Reporter

that those involved are currently being questioned and that evidence is being collected.

Baldwin, 63, was questioned on Thursday.

No one has been arrested.

The shooting of the film has been stopped for the time being.
