The 87th Book Week, the traditional readers' festival in bookstores and libraries, will take place from Saturday 5 to Sunday 13 March 2022.

During that period, readers receive the Boekenweekgift as a gift when they spend 15 euros on Dutch-language books in the bookstore.

Eveline Aendekerk, director of the Collective Propaganda Foundation of the Dutch Book (CPNB), insists that the Boekenweek 2022 should be "a great and inspiring reader's party for everyone".

The festive week of literary Netherlands was interrupted halfway in 2020 due to the outbreak of the corona crisis.

This year the Boekenweek was moved to the summer in a slimmed-down form.

The traditional Boekenbal was canceled for the first time in four decades.
