Jérémie Makiese is the first announced participant in the Eurovision Song Contest in Italy next year.

The singer previously won the Belgian version of

The Voice

and will represent Belgium in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2022.

Belgium continues the tradition of being the first country to announce the Eurovision participant.

For example, the country announced early in 2018 that Sennek would participate in the following year.

In 2020, Belgium did that again with Hooverphonic.

In Belgium, Flanders and Wallonia elect a candidate every other year.

Hooverphonic was the choice of Flanders, Makiese was chosen by Wallonia.

With which song he will participate, will be announced later.

Twenty-year-old Makiese won the ninth season of

The Voice Belgique

in April of this year

and, in addition to his musical abilities, also has another talent: he plays football at Excelsior Virton, Virton's football club.

The participant will be announced via the social media channel of the Song Contest.
