Joe Biden's inauguration on Wednesday will be celebrated with performances by well-known artists.

Lady Gaga, Bruce Springsteen, Jennifer Lopez and John Legend, among others, will perform one or more songs.

Good to know about the inauguration

  • The ceremony will start around 5:30 PM (Dutch time) and will take place at the Capitol in Washington

  • There is no audience this time: the corona crisis could mean fewer people, but since the storming of the Capitol on January 6, Washington has been in lockdown

  • Outgoing President Donald Trump is not present at the handover

While most of the performances will take place during the festivities following the official ceremony, there is also room for some entertainment during the inauguration.

Lady Gaga will sing the national anthem, but what Lopez will be playing is not yet known.

The post-inauguration parade will take place virtually this year and will be talked together by Tony Goldwyn, who

played

the president in

Scandal for

years, and talk show host Jon Stewart.

, the party really starts: Tom Hanks presents the evening honoring the heroes of the United States who work on the front lines.

Some of the artists performing during the evening are Jon Bon Jovi, Foo Fighters, John Legend, Demi Lovato, Springsteen and Justin Timberlake.

The day ends with a special prayer service featuring Josh Groban, Patti LaBelle and The Clark Sisters.

The inauguration is expected to start at 5.30 pm (Dutch time).

Channels such as NBC and CNN will broadcast the ceremony.

It is not yet known what time and where the inauguration will be shown on Dutch television.
