The Moroccan-Dutch author Naima El Bezaz, known for the autobiographical novel Vinex Women , has passed away at the age of 46.
The news was announced on Twitter by writer Abdelkader Benali.
El Bezaz made his debut in 1995 with The Way to the North . She broke through to the general public with the novel Vinexvrouwen . The sequel to this bestseller, More vinex women , came out two years later. Her last novel was published in 2013. In the following year she announced that she was making a switch from publishing house Querido to Lebowski.
In interviews she spoke several times about her depression and the threats she received as a result of Vinex women , in which she reported on her life in a new housing estate in Zaandam.
El Bezaz took her own life , according to the NOS . She was married and had two daughters.
