Eleven Arrests in New Nationwide Sexual Abuse Case - Page 1
When investigating a new nationwide abuse case, the Münster police identified three children as victims. They were five, ten and twelve years old, the investigators said on Saturday in Münster.
Eleven suspects were arrested and pre-trial detention was ordered against seven suspects. There were six men and one woman. The main suspect was a 27-year-old from Münster. In addition, it is his mother from Münster and men from Staufenberg, Hanover, Schorfheide, Kassel and Cologne.
It was announced on Friday that several people had been arrested in Brandenburg, Lower Saxony and Hesse in connection with the abuse cases. Buildings were also searched there. The starting point were preliminary proceedings in North Rhine-Westphalia. According to the prosecutor, the investigation has been underway for several weeks.
North Rhine-Westphalia has hit the headlines with several cases of serious sexual abuse of children since early 2019. The Lügde case first became known. At a campsite in the Lippe district, children had been sexually abused hundreds of times by several men for years. The district court Detmold sent the perpetrators to prison in autumn 2019.
Investigations into a nationwide child pornography exchange ring had begun in Bergisch Gladbach near Cologne in October 2019 and now extend to all federal states. In NRW alone, over 20 suspects are being investigated. At the end of April, a first trial against two 39-year-old men had started in Mönchengladbach.
