Joost Dowib, better known by his stage name Josylvio, has started a more cautious life since he was a father. He tells that in an interview with De Volkskrant on Friday .
The 27-year-old Dowib says that his life changed from the moment he knew he was going to be a father. "The world has always been a dangerous place, but you only see that when you have a child."
"I can't die now," continues the rapper and actor. "That has suddenly become very important to me: not getting sick, not getting a car accident. I have to be there for my child. That has to be. I want a father to always be at home."
Dowib, child of a Dutch mother and an Egyptian father, says that he always carries both descents. "My father Abdelgalil calls me Yussef and my mother Lia calls me Joost. I don't care how you speak to me, I'm Egyptian and Dutch at the same time. People who want you to choose don't get it."
"I will never be an Egyptian alone and I will never be a Dutchman alone," Dowib continues. "My son Omar is now a few months old. Whatever he will do later, in the eyes of others, he will always remain a foreigner. I did not make that up, that is how the world works."
Dowib became the father of a son on November 17.
