Vaughan Oliver, a graphic designer, died on Sunday at the age of 62, reports Pitchfork . Oliver designed several album covers from the American rock band Pixies. A cause of death was not disclosed.
After his studies in Newcastle, the graphic designer ran into London's founder Ivo Watts-Russell of record label 4AD in the 1970s and became his first employee. Watts-Russell gave Oliver full artistic freedom at 4AD.
Oliver worked closely with band members, including Black Francis from Pixies. "There are so many images in Pixies numbers, it was like a dream," said the British graphic designer in 2016.
