Carice van Houten does not immediately say 'no' to a role in the Game of Thrones prequel that is being made. The actress tells Entertainment Weekly that she only wants to play in the new series if she can show another side of her character Melisandre.
The House of the Dragon series is set three hundred years earlier than the timeline of Game of Thrones and Melisandre is one of the few characters that can appear in both series, since it is hundreds of years old.
When asked whether Van Houten wants to play the role of Melisandre again, she answers that there must be an interesting storyline. "I would be interested if I could show a completely different side of Melisandre. It must be a perspective that hasn't been there yet," she explains.
Van Houten says that she feels she has closed the role 'in a natural way', if no new perspective is chosen. Van Houten, who played the role for seven seasons, said in September to The Hollywood Reporter that he would only be open to a cameo or guest role in the Game of Thrones prequel.
The last episode of Game of Thrones was shown earlier this year, when the series came to an end after eight seasons. Van Houten was nominated for an Emmy as best actress with her role in the series.
