The composer will lead the special acts for the Songfestival musically and will make the sound for the coming edition. It is not the first time that Van Tijn, himself known as the musical leader of The Passion and as a jury member for Idols and X Factor, has been involved in the Songfestival. Thursday, November 14 at 11:59

This year, just like last year, 41 countries are participating in the Song Festival, but they are not exactly the same countries. Hungary and Montenegro, for example, have decided to ignore the Rotterdam edition. Bulgaria returns after a year of absence for financial reasons. Ukraine refused to participate last year following a controversy in the national final. The winner Maruv had planned performances in Russia, which was contrary to the conditions to represent her country. She decided not to abandon these performances and also the artists who finished second and third were not eligible for the ticket to Tel Aviv. Then it was decided not to participate. This year Ukraine will again try to find a suitable candidate.
