A $ AP Rocky donates the proceeds of the concert he gives in Stockholm on December 11 to a Swedish organization that assists asylum seekers. After the rapper was imprisoned for a month in that country in anticipation of his abuse, he wants to do something for the people who are not lucky enough to be a celebrity, he says on Tuesday in conversation with TMZ .
"In Sweden I met a lot of people who were in the same situation as me. All those immigrants didn't get the support they need," said the rapper. "I received worldwide publicity because I am a star. The American embassy assisted me. But these people come from countries they don't help. Some are in jail for ten months to two years before they see a judge. That's crazy for words."
A $ AP Rocky would like to perform in the prison where he was detained for a month. However, he does not expect that to happen.
Rakim Mayers, as the rapper is called in real life, was in custody in Sweden for a month in the summer of 2019 for his involvement in a street fight. On 14 August he received a suspended prison sentence for ill-treatment.
US President Donald Trump spoke to Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven prior to the conviction to negotiate the release of A $ AP Rocky. However, the Swedish authorities then decided that the rapper should await the trial in captivity. Trump expressed his dissatisfaction on Twitter and decided to send an envoy from his government to Sweden to mediate.
