The highest stacker of Wessel in Gussinklo has won the Bookspot Literature Prize in the fiction category, the jury of the prize announced on Thursday in the library of The Hague. The prize was awarded by Winnie Sorgdrager, chairman of the Annual Literature Prize Foundation.

This year, the Bookspot Literature Prize was also awarded for the first time to the best non-fiction book. This title was won by De avant-gardisten van Sjeng Scheijen. Online bookstore BookSpot, the partner of the prize, will award prize money of 50,000 euros for both books. The other nominated authors each receive an amount of 2500 euros.

In 2018 Tommy Wieringa received the prize for the fiction book De holy Rita . The year before, Koen Peeters won with De mensgenezer , when the prize was still called the ECI Literature Prize.

Otmar's sons of Peter Buwalda won the BookSpot Reader Award on November 6. A jury of fifty readers from the Netherlands and Flanders rewarded his book with an amount of 10,000 euros, made available by the online bookstore.
