Lévi Weemoedt (with the collection of poetry Pessimism you can learn ), Ilja Leonard Pfeijffer ( Grand Hotel Europa ), Paulien Cornelisse ( Language for fun ) and Murat Isik ( Be invisible ) are nominated for the annual book prize.

Only Buwalda and Cornelisse were previously nominated for the NS Public Prize. The Dutch public can vote for their favorite title since Wednesday evening.

Bijl got a brain haemorrhage in September 2015 which she had to recover for years. Shortly thereafter she developed a depression.

Bijl, who presented the first three seasons of Heel Holland Bakt , has barely appeared in public ever since. The presenter Rinkeldekink wrote about this period, which appeared in November 2018.

Winner receives money and sculpture

The NS Audience Award consists of a sculpture by Jeroen Henneman, a sum of money of 7,500 euros and a year of free travel by train.

Last year, As long as there is life, Hendrik Groen was chosen as the favorite novel.
