Nyassa Alberta, who has been the understudy of the title role in the German version of TINA - The Tina Turner Musical since March, will also play the role in the Netherlands. Albert Verlinde announced on Monday that Alberta will play the lead role in the new show.
According to the AD , Alberta will "amaze everyone", said Verlinde during the press presentation.
Other roles are for Juneoer Mers (Ike Turner), Gaia Aikman (Tina Turners sister Alline) and Marianne Kloeze (Rhonda, Turner's first manager).
The Dutch-Surinamese musical actress has been living in Germany for about ten years, where she has appeared in The Bodyguard , Hairspray and The Lion King , among others. This is her first major role in a Dutch production.
Musical will premiere in February
The musical produced by Stage Entertainment Netherlands was previously shown in London and Hamburg and will be on Broadway in the fall of 2019. The successor of Mamma Mia! will premiere on February 9 in the Beatrix Theater in Utrecht.
TINA - The Tina Turner Musical tells the life story of Turner from her childhood in Nutbush in the American state of Tennessee and highlights her successful career.
The script is written by Katori Hall. She did this in collaboration with Dutch writers Frank Ketelaar and Kees Prins, who have previously written musicals in the Netherlands such as He Believes In Me and De Tweeling .
