R. Kelly was denied bail during a session in New York Wednesday afternoon according to News 5 in Chicago and the New York Daily News .
Kelly is currently being accused of sex trafficking, sexual abuse, and the spreading of child pornography.
The request to be released on bail and to await the trial in freedom came from his lawyers because, according to them, Kelly is suffering from medical problems in prison.
Judge Steven Tiscione refused bail and said that Kelly is a flight hazard and a public safety hazard.
Kelly was arrested in July for multiple sexual charges, including forced sex, assault, and sex with underage girls. The trial against Kelly in Chicago will start in April 2020 and will take about three weeks, prosecutors announced on September 4.
