Daniel Dekker stops after ten years as a member of the selection committee of the Eurovision Song Contest. The radio DJ commented on the broadcasts for years and was involved in the choice of songs, artists and clothing.
"After ten years of pleasure, passion, music, friendship and above all results, I close my involvement in the Eurovision Song Contest", writes Dekker on Facebook. "I have been able to do and experience a lot. From radio broadcasts to television commentary, from selection to organization. From the very last to the very first. A great adventure to remember."
Dekker thanks in his message Ilse DeLange and singer Anouk, who have been of great importance for the final win of Duncan Laurence in Tel Aviv this year. Anouk emerged in 2013 as a participant in the Eurovision Song Contest and was the first Dutch entry in years to score high in the final. The singer finally reached ninth place with Birds .
Ilse DeLange joined Waylon the following year as The Common Linnets and reached second place. The singer was also closely involved in choosing Laurence this year: she accompanied him in the program The Voice of Holland and introduced him and his song Arcade as a participant.
"Heroes of Dutch music with guts and vision. Thank you for your confidence. And see you soon!", Concludes Dekker's message. The radio DJ does not know in his message why he is stopping, NU.nl is awaiting a response from Dekker.
