Ric Ocasek, founder and singer of the newwave band The Cars, died at the age of 75. He was found dead Sunday in his New York home. This is a natural cause of death, American media report.

Ocasek was added to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018 with The Cars. The band scored big hits including My Best Friend's Girl and Drive .

The video clip for the song You Might Think won the very first MTV Video Music Award in 1984. With that they beat Michael Jackson's Thriller, among others .
