Singer Demi Lovato will play a supporting role in the new Netflix film Eurovision . Deadline reports Wednesday.
In the musical comedy, Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams play two Icelandic singers who get the chance to represent their country at the Eurovision Song Contest. The American Lovato is cast for the role of Katiana, an Icelandic singer.
Earlier it was announced that Dan Stevens, especially known for the live action version of Beauty and the Beast , will play the role of Russian song festival candidate. Pierce Brosnan is cast as father of Ferrell.
The Eurovision script is written by Ferrell and Andrew Steele. Director is David Dobkin, who previously collaborated with McAdams and Ferrell on the comedy Wedding Crashers .
The recordings of the new comedy have already started. A release date is not yet known, but it is likely that the film will be released around the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest in the Netherlands. The official date will be announced on 30 August, together with the host city.
