Abbey Road , the famed album of The Beatles, is being reissued and expanded with additional tracks. The re-issue will contain a total of forty issues, reports Stereogum Thursday.

Giles Martin, who made new mixes for a re-release of the Beatles album Sgt. Pepper , will also edit songs for the new version of Abbey Road . There will also be original recordings and demos on the album, which will be released on September 27, fifty years and one day after the original release.

A corresponding book is also published, which includes handwritten lyrics, notes written during the recording of the album and pictures of the band that have never been released before. Beatles member Paul McCartney provides the foreword to the book.

It is exactly fifty years ago on Thursday that the famous cover photo of Abbey Road was shot, on which the band members crossed the famous street in London. The photo was taken by the Scottish photographer Iain Macmillan.

It is the last album the band recorded. Come Together and Here Comes the Sun are some of the famous songs on Abbey Road .

The Beatles, known for hits like Yesterday and Let it be , broke up in 1970. At the beginning of this year it was announced that director Peter Jackson will make a documentary about the band.
