Once again, several people have been killed in an attack in Somalia. In the port city of Kismaayo, a suicide bomber blew himself up in a car. According to information from the police, armed attackers stormed the hotel "Asasey". At least ten people were killed.
Among the victims is a well-known Somali activist and journalist. The hotel is often used by members of parliament and civil servants.
About the radio station Al-Andalus reclaimed the Islamist terrorist group Al-Shabaab the attack for themselves. The terrorist militia controls large areas in the south and in the center of Somalia. Again and again followers of the group commit attacks on security forces and civilians. Al-Shabaab is a Sunni group affiliated with Al Qaeda.
The US military and an African Union peacekeeping force are stationed in Somalia to assist the government in its fight against the terrorist group.
