How do you make your stay at the festival campsite as pleasant as possible?

You naturally experience the most intense a summer festival at the campsite. It is pleasant to be among all other partygoers and you can make contact more easily than on site. But how do you make your camping trip itself as pleasant as possible? NU.nl provides some useful tips.

You naturally experience the most intense a summer festival at the campsite. It is pleasant to be among all other partygoers and you can make contact more easily than on site. But how do you make your camping trip itself as pleasant as possible? NU.nl provides some useful tips.

Think light

It is of course super nice if you have a lot of things with you to get through the weekend as comfortably as possible. Lots of clean clothes, beer to drink at the campsite and chairs to sit relaxed. Bear in mind that all those things also have to be carried to and from the campsite and that are usually not a short walk. So consider carefully what you really need and leave the rest at home. In this way you prevent yourself from arriving at the party exhausted as a heavily loaded package donkey before it has yet to begin.

Invest in a good tent

Nowadays you can buy a tents for a trifle, with the temptation that you can easily leave it on the campsite. Apart from the nuisance for the organization and the environment, this is not a good idea. Buy a tent that is certainly waterproof - and more importantly - that you can secure with pegs in the ground. You don't want the tent to blow away when the wind blows a bit or that fun pants can just pick it up and move it, so that you look crazy for your sleeping place during the night.

Roll up your sleeping bag

How nice it is to jump out of your tent in the morning and go to the festival site, is a smart idea to first roll up your sleeping bag. A rolled-out sleeping bag can become clammy due to the evening dew and if you make a small ball of it you will experience fewer problems.

Also lubricate 'indoors'

Even expensive tents offer no protection against UV rays. So if you wake up after an evening on a sunny day in the early afternoon, chances are that you've been burning for a few hours. So rub the bare body parts with sunscreen before you go to sleep. This can prevent a red back or leg.

Camp at height

Always look for the highest point on the site at the campsite or at least don't pitch your tent in a pit. When it rains, water always flows to the lowest spot and you avoid having to spend the night in a mud bath during the night.

Choose your friends

Take a good look around you when you arrive at the campsite. Where piles of beer are already packed early in the afternoon, it is probably very cozy, but the chance that you close your eyes at night may be smaller. Consider carefully which neighbors you want and whether the night's sleep is more important than having drinking sizes.

Stuff against the inner tent

If you want to keep things in the tent dry during a rain shower, it is advisable to ensure that there is no air mattress, weekend bag or cushion against the tent canvas. If the inside of the tent touches the outside of the tent during a shower, it also gets wet inside.

Keep your valuables with you

Festivals are of course not for sale, but there is really stolen at their campsites. So do not leave bags with coins or cash in your tent. Also hide your valuables well at night, because thieves understand better than anyone that there is always something to be found in the top pocket or jacket pocket.

Check rain radar before setting up the tent

Although of course you can never prevent a wet tent when it rains, you can ensure that the entrance remains fairly dry. You can do this by looking closely at the wind direction on rainfall radar. So do not put the front of your tent on the side where the wind comes from.

Make your tent recognizable

No matter how nice and original your tent is, there must be someone nearby who has a similar copy. This can cause problems if you want to find your place to sleep during the night at the usually barely lit campsite. So tie a ribbon or flag to your tent and make sure you have enough battery on your smartphone to shine some light during the search itself.
