Stone Age people could probably use it to produce up to five meters of rope within ten minutes. The four holes with a diameter of seven to nine millimeters are notched in a spiral shape.

The material itself is unusual, as such objects were almost always made from the antlers of reindeer and deer. A very similar object from the same era has only been found once, in 1983 in the Geißenklösterle cave in Baden-Württemberg.
