Kremlin-controlled hacker group "Cozy Bear" has attempted to attack several German parties with malware. In order to get the victims to install malware, the attackers even invented a CDU dinner.

German security authorities have also already sent warnings about the incident. An operation against political parties is being observed for the first time, according to a report by IT security company Mandiant. The CDU confirmed to SPIEGEL that they had already received information about the attack. The campaign aims to establish long-term access to the targets’ networks.
