Colombia wants to recover treasure from the shipwreck of the “San José’ The galleon sank in 1708 and is said to have had inestimable riches on board. The wreck was discovered in 2015 and is considered the ‘Holy Grail among treasure ships’ A diving robot will be sent into the depths to recover parts of the treasure.
Around 4.5 million dollars are estimated for the expedition.. The exact location of the wreck is secret - this is intended to protect the archaeological find from treasure hunters.
