Bertelsmann study: Germans fear fake news. Eight out of ten Germans hold this opinion.

One in three people also distrust the statements of the federal government. More than one in two people say they have encountered false information on social media, such as Facebook or X, formerly Twitter. 37 percent claim to have discovered fake news in the comment columns of blogs or news sites. But respondents in the US are also more reflective. While 39 percent of US subjects say they are worried about falling for false information, only 16 percent of German respondents see such a risk for themselves.
