Oleg Kononenko has been on the International Space Station ISS for more than 878 days. The 59-year-old broke the previous world record for total time spent in space on Sunday.

The next space milestone is expected for June 5th: by then the cosmonaut will have spent a total of 1,000 days in space. Kon onenko first flew to the ISS in 2008 and is part of a long-term expedition that lasts from September last year to next September.
