Scientists from the Hungarian Loránd Eötvös University conducted an experiment that proved the ability of all dogs to understand the meaning of familiar words. Previously, it was believed that animals were simply able to react in a certain way to familiar sounds and objects.
It was possible to establish that dogs actually perceive words in a similar way to humans by studying the brain activity of animals using an EEG device. Authors of the study intend to study similar abilities of other mammals, including non-domesticated ones.
